Ferrari
fans will be dressed in red this Easter,
for Easter Sunday is the date of the San Marino
Grand
Prix , the fourth Grand Prix of
the season and hosted, as always, by the International
Autodrome at Imola. Just down the road
from the home of Ferrari, Maranello, Imola
will be a sea of red, with the trademark horse
at centre stage. Ferrari is now big business in
Internet boasting more than 400 official - and
not-so-official - sites dedicated to the legendary
car and its eponymous brand.
We recommend Warm-up,
an online shop with real premises a few doors
down from the official Ferrari museum, Galleria
Ferrari, in Maranello. We went along to ask
them some questions . . ,
Maranello, the home of Ferrari, despite
efforts from some 250,000 fans, hasn't
been able to secure its nomination as a
comune turistico (tourist town) which
would have allowed it, amongst other things,
to keep its shops open on Sundays
or other Grand Prix times. (Trading
hours are restricted in Italy and you need
a special licence to trade outside approved
hours. -ed.). For those of you who
want to fill up on Formula 1 fun don't forget
that you can go along to the qualifying
sessions on April 13th and 14th.
Prices range from 50,000 to 250,000 lire,
with weekend packages also available. For
more information contact the Imola
Autodrome's official website.
Just one word of advice - pack a picnic
before you go! |
IP: What are the most popular "Ferrari
products?
Caps, flags and polo shirts.
IP: Who buys the stuff?
A high percentage of our clientele are teenagers.
But those with most spending power are men aged
between 20 and 40 years old. We don't have very
many female customers, but the ones we have are
excellent! We also get lots of requests from abroad:
which is one of the reasons why we chose to translate
our Internet site into English. Plus all our staff
speak languages, so if you come to the shop you
can communicate in English, French, German or
Spanish.
IP: What about online shopping?
Ours is a full e-commerce site: a virtual
shop where you can order products directly from
our catalogue. We ship all over the world and
delivery times are quick: 24 hours for Italy,
72 hours anywhere else.
